Best time to post on TikTok in 2026: weekdays or weekends?

The Kairoset team · Updated · 2 min read

The short answer

Test both a midweek afternoon and a weekend morning. Sprout Social's 2026 data favors Tuesday 2–6pm and Wednesday 1–8pm, while Buffer's analysis of 7.1 million TikToks puts Sunday 9am, Monday 1pm and Sunday 1pm on top, with Saturday the best day. Your own follower activity in TikTok's analytics decides which wins for you.

TikTok timing advice is especially contradictory, because the For You feed shows videos to people who don't follow you. Here's what the current data says and how to test it on your own account.

What the studies found#

Times are in the viewer's local time.

StudyDatasetBest times for TikTok
Sprout Social (2026)~2 billion engagements, 307,000 profiles, Nov 2025 – Feb 2026Tuesday 2–6pm, Wednesday 1–8pm
Buffer (2026)7.1 million TikToksSunday 9am, Monday 1pm, Sunday 1pm; Saturday is the best day
Hootsuite (2025–26)1 million+ posts, 118 countriesThursday 7–11am

Weekday or weekend?#

The split is real, and the likeliest explanation is who's being measured. Sprout Social's customers are mostly brands and businesses, whose audiences tend to engage during the working week. Buffer's user base includes more creators and small accounts, whose viewers may have more scrolling time at the weekend. Neither study breaks this down, so treat it as a reason to test both.

If you're a brand talking to people at work, start midweek. If you're a creator with an entertainment or lifestyle audience, test weekend mornings.

How to find your best time on TikTok#

  1. Open your analytics. In TikTok Studio, look at the follower activity view, which shows the hours and days your followers are most active.
  2. Choose a midweek slot and a weekend slot around those peaks.
  3. Post comparable videos in both for a month. Keep length and topic similar so timing is the main variable.
  4. Compare views and average watch time per video. On TikTok, how long people watch matters more than likes.
  5. Repeat every couple of months. Your audience changes as your account grows.

Timing matters less than you think on TikTok#

Buffer's frequency study of 11.4 million TikToks found that median views stay around 500 whatever you do, and that posting more mainly "increases your chances of getting lucky". A strong hook and a high watch-through rate will beat a perfectly timed weak video every time. Use timing to tip the odds, not as the strategy.

Avoid this when reposting from other apps#

Videos with another platform's visible watermark aren't eligible for the For You feed, according to TikTok's own standards. If you make videos for several platforms, export a clean master file. See how to repurpose one video.

Scheduling TikToks#

TikTok's own scheduler runs on desktop, works 15 minutes to 10 days ahead, and can't edit a scheduled post. Kairoset schedules TikToks alongside your Reels and Shorts in one calendar, with captions and settings you can change right up to publishing.

FAQ

What is the best day to post on TikTok?

It depends on your audience. Buffer's 2026 data finds Saturday the strongest day for its mostly creator users, while Sprout Social's business-heavy data favors Tuesday and Wednesday. Test a weekday and a weekend slot.

Does posting time matter on TikTok?

Somewhat, but less than the video itself. TikTok shows videos to non-followers based on how early viewers respond, so watch time and hook matter more than the exact minute you post.

How do I see when my TikTok followers are active?

Open TikTok Studio's analytics and look at follower activity, which shows the hours and days your followers are online.
